Mother's Day is annually held on the second Sunday of May. It celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. Many people give gifts, cards, flowers, candy, a meal in a restaurant or other treats to their mother and mother figures, including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers. The International students from the primary school had a special activity to express the thankfulness to mothers.
The students were given 10 questions about their Mums to see if they know about their own Mum after reading an ancient Chinese poem which narrated the feelings of a mum missing her children who were far away from home. Some students also wrote a thank you card to mums and some drew pictures to memorise those warm and little things about Mum. The teacher also gave students a special homework, that is to make a breakfast for Mum in the morning of May 12th.
