Last night, September 20th, I had the pleasure to represent Huamei International School and our Griggs International Academy program to welcome the new Cultural Affairs Officer in the United States Consulate General Office of Guangzhou. Mr. Colin Machado recently arrived in Guangzhou from his post in El Salvador. Our school was chosen for this special honor because of our longstanding history in the community and our commitment to internationalization rooted in Chinese culture.
This event was a great opportunity to see the efforts and support of the American consulate on the community. The U.S. consulate has brought on board education professional fellows. They work with low-income schools across China to bring best practices in education to educators who do not have access. We know that with the growing presence of the U.S. Consulate, our school will be able to collaborate on more projects with the U.S.Consulate office as we prepare our students to study abroad. Thank you to Kellie Xu, EducationUSA Adviser, for including us in this event. Welcome to Guangzhou Mr. Machado.
