On March 14, 2014, at 3:30pm, Mr. Bildhauer, the Director of International Office at the University of Cologne in Germany, accompanied by Ms. Preuschoff, the Advisor of the International Office, visited Huamei International School(HMIS). Xiong Jia, Principal of the HMIS, and Chen Xiaoying, vice principal of the HMIS, together with members of the International Exchange Office of HMIS, welcomed the German guests in the meeting room of the administration building of Huamei. Chen Xiaoying, the Vice principal of the HMIS, introduced the historical development and recent achievements of HMIS. Chen attached special emphasis on the DSD German language program at Huamei. Mr. Bildhauer and Ms. Preuschoff introduced the development and achievements of the international program at University of Cologne(UC). He said that currently the University has a large number of international students. About 500 Chinese students studied at UC. The university also has a long history of cooperation with the universities in China, such as Sun Yat-sen University. Mr. Bildhauer and Ms. Preuschoff hoped that the University can have the opportunity to cooperate with Huamei, providing high qualified German language teacher interns to the DSD program, the special German language program (DSD) at Huamei. Principal Xiong Jia showed great interests to the possible cooperation opportunity. Xiong also expressed her concerns on the Chinese international students studied in Germany. Chen Xiaoying, the vice principal, inquired details about the admission requirements of the University of Cologne. She said that she is expecting the cooperation opportunity with the University of Cologne in the near future. The meeting ended with the friendly gift exchange between the two parties. Chen Xiaoying, the Vice Principal, accompanied with the delegates to visit the German Language class after the meeting. Mr. Bildhauer delivered a brief speech to the German language students at Huamei. He answered students’s questions and encouraged them to study hard, aiming to be admitted by the top universities in Germany.
