A report on English Speech Competition
From Junior High School English Group
On the 20th of December, the English speech competition of Junior High School was held in Room 220. This competition provided junior high school students with chances to improve their English, practice their speech skills and show their talents and confidence.
28 students from Junior One and Junior Two took part in this fierce contest. Each contestant gave a 3-minute speech on chosen topics. From their well-prepared speeches, all the audiences were inspired. They applauded spontaneously for every competitor over and over.
After all the contestants gave wonderful shows, the headteacher of Huamei Secondary School, Mr Zhang, made a stimulating speech to all the students. He spoke highly of the competitors for their performances and bravery at first. And in Mr. Zhang’s opinion, this contest gave junior high school students a chance to challenge themselves. The competition also offered a good atmosphere for the students, helping them get rid of dump English and speak out their confidence, and then rebuilt themselves. However, it was expected that more students would speak without scripts in the future.
In the end, Wu Junhao, Luo Chenhan, Chen Yifan, Mo Wenen and Xu Shengxi were given the first prizes. And the other students won the second prizes and third prizes.
